of <h1>Cess on Biri: Tobacco Taxed at Re. 1/kg and 25 Paise/kg for Beedi Manufacturing per 1976 Welfare Act.</h1> Cess on Biri is levied under the Beedi Workers Welfare Cess Act, 1976. The cess applies to tobacco at a rate of Re. 1 per kilogram and 25 paise per kilogram for any tobacco issued from a warehouse for the purpose of manufacturing Beedi. This is established through Notification G.S.R. No. 56(E), dated February 2, 1977.
