Chapter 44 export rules: broad ban on raw wood exports, processed wood mostly free; Red Sanders and sandalwood need permits
Chapter 44 of the export schedule regulates wood and wood products: raw logs, stumps, roots, bark, chips, powder, dust, charcoal and most fuel-wood forms are broadly prohibited; many processed products (veneers, plywood, MDF, furniture components, pallets, flooring, etc.) are free. Specific items are restricted and require export authorisation with provenance documentation and stock verification - notably Red Sanders (restricted with state PCCF certificates, quotas and CITES/NDF compliance) and certain sandalwood items. Sawn timber from imported logs is permitted under detailed conditions (same firm/ports, value-addition, quantity limits, mill registration). Bamboo charcoal and coconut-shell charcoal have conditional free status.
