of <h1>Interest Rates on Bonds Amended: 9% for Serial 0000001-0199999, 8% for 0200000-0280000, 7.5% for 0280001-2000000</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. S.O.459(E) dated April 23, 2002, under the Income Tax Act, 1961. The amendment changes the interest rates associated with specific serial numbers of bonds. Serial numbers 0000001 to 0199999 will continue to carry an interest rate of 9% per annum. Serial numbers 0200000 to 0280000 will now carry an interest rate of 8% per annum, while serial numbers 0280001 to 2000000 will carry an interest rate of 7.5% per annum. This amendment is issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Central Board of Direct Taxes.
