<h1>Central Govt. Issues REC Infrastructure Bonds u/s 80L with Variable Interest Rates; Total Rs. 1,000 Crores Raised.</h1> The Central Government has specified REC Infrastructure Bonds in the form of debentures, with serial numbers ranging from 0000001 to 2000000, each valued at Rs. 5,000. These bonds are issued by the Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, New Delhi, under the powers of section 80L of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The bonds carry varying interest rates: 9% for serial numbers 0000001 to 0199999, 8% for 0200000 to 0280000, and 7.5% for 0280001 to 2000000. The total amount to be raised is Rs. 1,000 crores, with an option to retain an additional Rs. 500 crores, through public or private placement.
