of <h1>Government Extends Eligibility for Sri Sankara Deva Nethralya Expansion Project, Amends Cost Limit Under Section 35AC, Income-tax Act</h1> The Central Government has extended the eligibility of the project 'purchase of equipment/vehicles, furnishing, and construction of building for Sri Sankara Deva Nethralya, Phase-I Expansion Project' by a health and educational foundation for an additional three years starting from the financial year 2007-2008. The project, initially approved in 1998, has been extended multiple times and is now recognized under section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The maximum project cost has been amended from Rs. 2011 lakh to Rs. 2606.88 lakh, following recommendations by the National Committee for the Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare.
