Initially approved for three years from the 1997-1998 assessment year, the project's eligibility was extended multiple times, with the cost revised from 162.78 lakhs to 385.78 lakhs. The National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare recommended further extension, and the project is now specified for an additional three years starting from the financial year 2004-2005.
