Central Govt. Extends Tax-Exempt Status for Blind Rehabilitation Project in Gujarat u/s 35AC.

The Central Government has specified the rehabilitation project for the blind in Mehsana District, Gujarat, by the National Association for the Blind as an eligible project under Section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961. Initially recognized in 1997, the project received extensions in subsequent years. The National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare recommended a further extension of three years, starting from the financial year 2006-2007, with an unchanged estimated cost of Rs. 45.91 lakhs. This notification confirms the project's eligibility for tax exemption as part of ongoing social welfare efforts.
