of <h1>Central Government Approves IT Special Economic Zone in Kannur, Kerala; Recognized as Inland Container Depot Since 2009.</h1> The Central Government approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Information Technology and IT Enabled Services in Eramam Taluka Thaliparambu, Kannur, Kerala, proposed by a private organization under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The area designated for the SEZ covers 10.37 hectares. An Approval Committee was formed, comprising various government officials and representatives from the developer. The SEZ is recognized as an Inland Container Depot effective from October 9, 2009, under the Customs Act, 1962.
