This SEZ, proposed by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, is designated for electronics and telecom hardware, including support services, trading, and logistics. The notification follows the fulfillment of necessary legal requirements and the issuance of a letter of approval in June and November 2006. The SEZ covers specific survey numbers across the villages of Thirumangalam, Mambakkam, Sirumangadu, and Santhavellur 'C', totaling 189.77 hectares.
