<h1>India Updates Import Policy: New Compliance Rules for Meat, Agriculture, Tea, and Textiles Under Various Acts</h1> The Government of India has amended the Import Policy under the ITC-HS Classification. Key changes include: meat and poultry imports must comply with the Meat Food Products Order, 1973; all edible products governed by the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 must meet its standards; primary agricultural products require a Bio Security & Sanitary-Phyto Sanitary import permit; tea waste imports are restricted to licensed holders per the Tea Waste (Control) Order, 1959; and textile imports must be free of hazardous dyes as per the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, requiring a preshipment certificate or testing for clearance.
