of <h1>India Imposes Safeguard Duty on Gamma Ferric Oxide Imports; Gradual Rate Reduction Until July 2003</h1> The notification imposes a safeguard duty on the import of Gamma Ferric Oxide into India, effective from January 24, 2001. The duty rates are set at 23% ad valorem until January 23, 2002, 20% from January 24, 2002, to January 23, 2003, and 15% from January 24, 2003, to July 23, 2003. Exemptions apply to imports under an Advance Licence for export obligations and imports from developing countries. The measure aims to protect domestic producers from injury due to increased imports, as concluded by the Director General (Safeguards).
