of <h1>India Imposes Safeguard Duty on Acetone Imports to Protect Domestic Industry; Effective January 27, 2000, with Specific Exemptions</h1> The notification imposes a safeguard duty on acetone imports into India to protect domestic producers from increased imports causing serious injury. Effective from January 27, 2000, the duty rates are 28% ad valorem or Rs. 3000 per metric tonne until January 26, 2001; 21% ad valorem or Rs. 2250 per metric tonne from January 27, 2001; and 9% ad valorem or Rs. 965 per metric tonne until July 26, 2002. Exemptions apply to imports under an advance license for export obligations and imports from developing countries, excluding South Africa and Singapore.
