India Lifts Export Restrictions on Assam Comilla Cotton, Allowing Up to 5,000 Bales with DGFT Registration Required
The Government of India has exempted Assam Comilla Cotton (ITC(HS) Code 5201 00 12) from export restrictions, allowing the export of up to 5,000 bales without a cap, as was the case during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 cotton seasons. This exemption requires registration with the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). The procedure for obtaining a Registration Certificate, initially outlined in Policy Circular No. 29(RE-2010)/2009-14, remains applicable, with the export completion period reduced from 45 to 30 days. This notification is issued under the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-14.
