of <h1>Government Approves IT and ITES Special Economic Zone in Karnataka, Effective January 4, 2011, Under SEZ Act 2005</h1> The Central Government has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services at Plot No. 47, Koorgally Industrial Area, Karnataka. This SEZ, proposed by a private organization, has been granted approval under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The designated area covers 10.118 hectares, with specific survey numbers listed. An Approval Committee, comprising various government officials and representatives, has been constituted to oversee the SEZ. The SEZ is effective from January 4, 2011, and is designated as an Inland Container Depot under the Customs Act, 1962.
