of <h1>Central Government Approves IT Special Economic Zone 'Knowledge Park' in Orissa, Covering 106.260 Hectares, Effective 2011</h1> The Central Government has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology, named Knowledge Park, at villages Gaudal and Arisal in Tehsil Jatni, District Khurda, Orissa. The Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation proposed this under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The SEZ covers a total area of 106.260 hectares, as detailed in the notification. An Approval Committee has been constituted to oversee the SEZ, comprising various government officials and representatives. The SEZ is designated as an inland Container Depot effective from January 4, 2011, under the Customs Act, 1962.
