of <h1>Government Approves IT Special Economic Zone in Ernakulam, Kerala; Recognized as Inland Container Depot Under Customs Act</h1> The Central Government has approved the establishment of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services at Village Thrikkakara North, Taluka Kanayannur, District Ernakulam, Kerala, proposed by a private organization. The approval was granted under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, following the fulfillment of necessary requirements. A designated area has been notified as an SEZ, and an Approval Committee has been constituted to oversee its development. The SEZ is also recognized as an Inland Container Depot from July 12, 2010, under the Customs Act, 1962.
