of <h1>India Extends Customs Duty Exemption for Defence and Police Imports to January 1, 2011, per Notification No. 51/2010</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 51/2010-Customs, amending the earlier Notification No. 39/96-Customs dated July 23, 1996. This amendment extends the exemption period for specified goods imported by entities such as the Defence Coast Guard, Department of Revenue, Police Forces, HAL, and certain ordnance factories, as well as for programs like ATVP, IGMDP, SAMYUKTA, LCAP, SANGRAHA, DIVYA DRISHTI, and DHANUSH. The deadline for these exemptions has been extended from December 31, 2009, to January 1, 2011.
