of <h1>Customs Notification Amended: SAFTA Import Concession Rate Changed to 8% for Items 1-248. Effective January 1, 2010.</h1> The Central Government has amended notification No. 68/2006-Customs concerning the import of products under the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement. Effective from January 1, 2010, the amendment modifies the concession rate in the notification's table for serial numbers 1 to 248, changing the entry in column (4) to '8%'. This adjustment is made under the authority of section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, as a measure in the public interest. The principal notification was initially issued on June 30, 2006, and was last amended on September 23, 2009.
