of <h1>India Imposes 15% Safeguard Duty on Caustic Soda Lye Imports to Protect Domestic Producers; Excludes Some Developing Countries</h1> The Government of India has imposed a 15% ad valorem safeguard duty on imports of Caustic Soda lye, classified under tariff item 2815 12 00, due to increased imports causing harm to domestic producers. This decision follows the preliminary findings by the Director General (Safeguard) indicating serious injury to local industry. The duty applies to imports except those from designated developing countries, excluding China, Indonesia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand. This safeguard duty will be in effect until March 3, 2010, unless earlier revoked or amended.
