The Central Government has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for the aviation sector at Mamidipally, Ranga Reddy District, Andhra Pradesh, proposed by a private organization. The SEZ spans 251.85 acres and is recognized as an Inland Container Depot (ICD) effective October 20, 2009. An Approval Committee has been constituted, comprising various government officials and representatives, to oversee the SEZ's development and operation. The committee includes the Development Commissioner, officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Customs, Income Tax, and representatives from the Andhra Pradesh government and the developer.
