of <h1>India Amends Import Policy: Wild Animals & Products Restricted, Specific Exceptions Must Meet Wildlife Act & CITES Rules</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has amended the import policy for wild animals and related products. Under the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-14, the import of wild animals, their parts, and products is prohibited as per the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and is subject to CITES regulations. Specific items like Red Sanders Powder and various furskins, including mink, lamb, and fox, are allowed for import but must comply with the Wildlife Protection Act and CITES provisions. These amendments are issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
