of <h1>Central Government Sets Cost Inflation Index at 632 for Financial Year 2009-2010 per Section 48 of Income-tax Act.</h1> The Central Government issued Notification No. 67/2009 on September 9, 2009, under the powers granted by section 48 of the Income-tax Act, 1961. This notification amends a previous notification from August 20, 1998, by adding a new entry to the Cost Inflation Index table. For the financial year 2009-2010, the Cost Inflation Index is set at 632. This update follows the last amendment made on August 13, 2008.
