<h1>India Amends Import Rules: Auto Industry Can Import Reference Fuels for R&D Under New Licensing Note in Chapter 27.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has amended Schedule-I (Imports) of the ITC (HS) Classifications under the Foreign Trade Policy 2009-2014. The amendment introduces Import Licensing Note No. (4) in Chapter 27, allowing automobile industries with R&D registration to import reference fuels (Petrol and Diesel) not produced in India. These imports are capped at 5 KL per annum and must be used solely for research and development and emission testing purposes. This amendment is issued in the public interest by the Director General of Foreign Trade.
