of <h1>Central Government Approves Special Economic Zone for Free Trade & Warehousing in Raigad, Maharashtra under SEZ Act 2005</h1> The Central Government has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Free Trade and Warehousing at Village Chanje, Taluka Uran, District Raigad, Maharashtra, proposed by a private organization under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The notification, dated August 18, 2009, details the area designated for the SEZ, specifying survey numbers and areas. An Approval Committee has been constituted with various government officials and a representative from the developer. The SEZ is also designated as an Inland Container Depot under the Customs Act, 1962, effective from the same date.
