This decision is driven by an excess stock of wheat in the Central Pool, which is financially burdensome for the government. The low international prices have led to continued wheat imports, slowing domestic off-take. To address this, the import duty has been increased to stimulate the off-take of wheat from the Central Pool. The amendment affects sub-heading numbers 1001.10 and 1001.90 in the tariff schedule.
