of <h1>Import Duty on Cotton Raised to 10% Under Section 8A of Customs Tariff Act, Effective January 9, 2002</h1> The Central Government has decided to increase the import duty on cotton, specifically not carded or combed, to 10% under heading 52.01 of Chapter 52 in the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. This decision was made under the authority of section 8A of the Customs Tariff Act due to the necessity of immediate action. The amendment to the tariff schedule will take effect on January 9, 2002, as per Notification No. 2/2002-Customs issued on January 8, 2002.
