of <h1>Central Government Approves Biotechnology Special Economic Zone in Raigad under SEZ Act 2005; Effective June 19, 2009.</h1> The Central Government has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for the biotechnology sector in Village Devnhave, Taluka Khalapur, District Raigad, Maharashtra. The SEZ is proposed by a private organization under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The designated area covers 10.71.9 hectares, detailed by specific survey numbers. An Approval Committee comprising various government officials and a representative from the developer organization is constituted to oversee the SEZ. The SEZ is effective from June 19, 2009, and is designated as an Inland Container Depot under the Customs Act, 1962.
