<h1>India Amends ITC (HS) Rules to Ban Import of Certain Livestock Products Over Avian Influenza Concerns</h1> The Central Government of India has amended the ITC (HS) Classification of Export and Import Items for 2004-09, prohibiting the import of certain live-stock and live-stock products due to concerns over notifiable Avian Influenza. The restrictions include domestic and wild birds, unprocessed meat from Avian species, live poultry, hatching eggs, and related products. Exceptions are made for processed pet food, certain pathological materials, and processed poultry meat following a conformity assessment. These prohibitions will remain in effect until further notice, as part of measures to protect public interest.
