Accredited Investors Only AIFs Defined Under 2012 Regulations, Threshold in Clause (pa) Cut to 25 Investors
Securities regulator amends the Alternative Investment Funds Regulations, 2012 to introduce and define 'Accredited Investors only fund,' which includes large value funds for accredited investors. Existing AIFs or schemes may convert to this category subject to conditions set by the regulator. The minimum threshold in clause (pa) is reduced from seventy to twenty-five, with conversion provisions for large value funds. Accredited investors are excluded when computing the number of investors in a scheme. Certain regulatory requirements, including specific sub-clause obligations and sub-regulation (8) of regulation 20, do not apply to Accredited Investors only funds, and for such funds, trustee responsibilities are to be discharged by the manager.
