of <h1>Finance Ministry Amends Excise Duty Rates on Petrol and Diesel; New Rate Set at Rs. Nil per Litre Effective 2024.</h1> The Ministry of Finance has issued Notification No. 02/2024-Central Excise, amending Notification No. 04/2022-Central Excise dated June 30, 2022. This amendment, effective January 2, 2024, modifies the Special Additional Excise Duty rates on petrol and diesel. Specifically, the duty rate for a specified entry in the notification is changed to 'Rs. Nil per litre.' This change is enacted under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and the Finance Act, 2002, in the interest of public welfare.
