of <h1>Andhra Pradesh Amends GST Act: Jaggery Taxed at 2.5%, Pencil Sharpeners Added to 6% Tax Rate from March 1.</h1> The Government of Andhra Pradesh issued amendments to the Andhra Pradesh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, specifically modifying the notification in Go. Ms. No. 258, dated June 29, 2017. The changes include revisions in tax schedules: Schedule I now includes all types of jaggery and khandsari sugar as taxable at 2.5%, Schedule II adds pencil sharpeners at a 6% tax rate, and Schedule III specifies exclusions for pencil sharpeners from a 9% tax rate. These amendments, recommended by the GST Council, are effective from March 1, 2023.
