of <h1>CGST Rate Update: Jaggery, Khandsari Sugar, Rab Now 2.5%; Pencil Sharpeners at 6% Effective March 1, 2023.</h1> The Central Government has issued Notification No. 03/2023-Central Tax (Rate) to amend the CGST rate schedule under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Effective March 1, 2023, the amendments include changes in tax rates for specific items. In Schedule I, jaggery of all types, khandsari sugar, and rab, when pre-packaged and labeled, are listed at 2.5%. In Schedule II, pencil sharpeners are added at a 6% rate. In Schedule III, pencil sharpeners are excluded from a 9% rate category. These changes update the previous notification No. 1/2017-Central Tax (Rate) from June 28, 2017.
