of <h1>Uttar Pradesh GST Amendment: Jaggery & Sugar Taxed at 2.5%, Pencil Sharpeners at 6%, Effective March 1, 2023.</h1> The Governor of Uttar Pradesh, exercising powers under the Uttar Pradesh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, has issued amendments to a previous notification dated June 30, 2017. The amendments include changes in tax schedules: Schedule I (2.5%) now includes various types of pre-packaged and labelled jaggery and sugar products; Schedule II (6%) introduces pencil sharpeners under a new entry; and Schedule III (9%) specifies exclusions for pencil sharpeners. These changes are effective from March 1, 2023, as per the notification issued by the Principal Secretary.
