The Central Government has extended the exemption under Section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961, for a project conducted by a society in Vadodara, Gujarat. This project involves conducting surveys, medical camps, polio operations, providing educational assistance, and offering instrumental/trade help for self-reliance and self-employment training for disabled individuals. It also includes building construction for a hostel for disabled trainees and a home for aged disabled persons. Initially specified for three years beginning with the 1997-98 assessment year, the project is now extended for an additional year, covering the 2000-2001 assessment year, with an estimated cost of 34.97 lakh rupees.
