Tribunal Temporarily Suspends 2020 Amendments to Procedure Rules; Pen Drive Submissions Now Optional Until Further Notice.
The Customs, Excise, and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal has issued a notification in response to concerns raised by the Bar Association. Amendments to the Tribunal's Procedure Rules, introduced on May 11, 2020, are temporarily suspended. Specifically, the new sub-rules to rule 9 and rule 16, and the requirement to submit soft copies of stay applications and documents on pen drives, are on hold. It is clarified that submitting pen drives with appeal memoranda, applications, or paper books is optional. This directive remains effective until further notice.
