Initially approved for three years starting from the 1998-99 assessment year and extended for another three years from 2001-2002, the project is now specified for an additional three years from the 2004-2005 assessment year. The project, aimed at diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating handicapped children, is recognized under section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961, with an estimated cost of four crores.
