of <h1>Import Duty on Areca Nuts Increased to 100% Under Chapter 8 of Customs Tariff Act, 1975</h1> The Central Government has issued Notification No. 96/2000-Customs, dated 7th July 2000, to increase the import duty on Areca nuts under Chapter 8 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. This action is deemed necessary due to prevailing circumstances. The amendment specifies that the duty rate for sub-heading No. 0802.90 in the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act will be changed to 100%. The notification is authorized by the Under Secretary to the Government of India.
