of <h1>Central Government Declares New 27.425-hectare IT SEZ in Tamil Nadu, Meeting SEZ Act 2005 Requirements.</h1> The Central Government has designated a 27.425-hectare area in Kadayam Perumpathu Village, Tamil Nadu, as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Information Technology and IT-enabled services, proposed by a private corporation. The notification, dated February 27, 2019, follows the fulfillment of requirements under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. An Approval Committee has been constituted to oversee the SEZ, comprising various government officials and a representative from the developer. The SEZ is also recognized as an Inland Container Depot under the Customs Act, 1962. Subsequent de-notifications were issued in 2019 and 2023.
