This action reduces the total area of the Special Economic Zone from 105.445 hectares to 79.038 hectares. The de-notification was proposed by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited and approved by the State Government of Tamil Nadu. The Development Commissioner of the MEPZ Special Economic Zone also recommended this change, and the Central Government confirmed that all legal requirements were met.
