SEBI Mandates Top 500 Firms to Publish Dividend Distribution Policies in Reports and Online per 2016 Amendment.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued the Second Amendment to the Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2016, effective upon publication in the Official Gazette. The amendment mandates the top 500 listed entities by market capitalization to establish and disclose a dividend distribution policy in their annual reports and on their websites. This policy must cover circumstances for dividend expectations, financial parameters, internal and external factors, retained earnings utilization, and parameters for different share classes. Entities outside the top 500 may voluntarily disclose their dividend policies. The amendment follows previous changes made in December 2015 and May 2016.
