<h1>India's Ministry of Finance Appoints Customs Officers for Audit Roles u/s 99A of Customs Act, 1962.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, issued Notification No. 39/2018-Customs (N.T.) on May 11, 2018. This notification appoints specific officers within the Commissionerate of Customs (Audit) to various ranks for conducting audits under section 99A of the Customs Act, 1962. The ranks include Principal Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, Joint Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Superintendent or Appraiser, and Inspector or Examiner. This notification was later superseded by Notification No. 22/2022-Customs (N.T.) dated March 31, 2022.
