India Imposes 10% Basic Customs Duty on Mobile Phone PCBAs, Amends Notification No. 24/2005-Customs Effective April 2018.
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has amended Notification No. 24/2005-Customs to withdraw the exemption from Basic Customs Duty (BCD) on Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) for cellular mobile phones. Effective from April 2, 2018, a 10% BCD will be imposed on these items. This change is made under the authority of the Customs Act, 1962, and is deemed necessary in the public interest. The amendment replaces the previous entry for serial number 13S in the original notification, specifying that all goods except PCBA of cellular mobile phones are exempt.
