of <h1>India Raises Basic Customs Duty on Chickpeas from 30% to 40% u/s 8A(1), Effective February 6, 2018.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, has issued Notification No. 25/2018 to increase the Basic Customs Duty (BCD) on Chana (Chickpeas) from 30% to 40%. This change is enacted under section 8A(1) of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, due to the necessity for immediate action. The amendment affects tariff item 0713 20 00 in the First Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, and is effective from February 6, 2018.
