of <h1>India Exempts Additional Excise Duty on Certain Goods from February 2, 2018; Rescinded by April 6, 2018 Notification.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance, issued Notification No. 07/2018-Central Excise on February 2, 2018, exempting the additional duty of excise (Road Cess) on goods specified in the Second Schedule of the Finance (No. 2) Act, 1998. This exemption was enacted under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, in the public interest. The exemption does not apply to goods manufactured before February 1, 2018, and cleared on or after February 2, 2018. This notification was later rescinded by Notification No. 20/2018-Central Excise, dated April 6, 2018.
