India Updates Foreign Trade Policy: Export Obligation Aligned with Project Duration, New Application Timeline, Import Restrictions.
The Central Government of India has amended Chapter 4 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-20. The changes include revisions to Para 4.22(ii), aligning the Export Obligation period with the project duration or 18 months, whichever is longer, for supplies to projects in India or abroad. Para 4.29(v) now allows applications to be filed beyond 24 months from the file number generation date. Additionally, Para 4.29(viii) states that no Duty Free Import Authorisation will be issued for inputs with an 'Actual User' condition or pre-import condition as per SION and Appendix-4J. These amendments aim to update the policy framework.
