of <h1>Advocate General of Maharashtra appointed as Special Public Prosecutor for money laundering cases under PMLA 2002.</h1> The Central Government, exercising its authority under the Prevention of Money-laundering Act, 2002, has appointed the Advocate General of the State of Maharashtra as the Special Public Prosecutor. This appointment is for handling any case or group of cases related to money laundering on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate. The appointed prosecutor will conduct proceedings in Special Courts set up under the Act and before the High Court of Bombay. This decision was formalized in a notification dated July 27, 2012, by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue.
