of <h1>Central Govt Amends Income Tax Act Section 35AC, Appoints New Member to Welfare Committee Effective May 19, 1998.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. S.O. 892 (E) dated December 23, 1997, under Section 35AC of the Income Tax Act, 1961. This amendment, effective from May 19, 1998, appoints a new member to the National Committee for Promotion of Social and Economic Welfare. The amendment replaces the previous entry at Serial number 8 with the appointment of a former member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes, based in New Delhi, to the committee. This change is formalized in Notification No. 10601 by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue.
