of <h1>India Imposes Safeguard Duty on Saturated Fatty Alcohol Imports to Protect Domestic Producers; Excludes Pure C8 Chain Alcohols.</h1> The Government of India has imposed a definitive safeguard duty on the import of saturated fatty alcohols, excluding those with a pure C8 carbon chain length, to protect domestic producers from increased imports. The duty, effective from 28th August 2014, is set at 20% ad valorem until 27th August 2015, 18% from 28th August 2015 to 27th August 2016, and 12% from 28th August 2016 to 27th February 2017. This duty does not apply to imports from developing countries, except Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. The duty is payable in Indian currency.
