The amendment specifies that in rule 3, the term 'a director' will now include the phrase 'other than an independent director.' This change is made under the authority granted by the Companies Act, 2013. The amendment will take effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette. The principal rules were initially published in the Gazette of India on March 31, 2014.
