Shriram Properties and Infrastructure Private Limited proposed to establish a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services in Perungalathur Village, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, under the Special Economic Zones Act 2005. The Central Government, exercising its authority under the Act and SEZ Rules 2006, initially notified a 10-hectare area for this purpose. Subsequently, an additional area of 13.40.88 hectares was approved and notified on 3rd May 2007. This expansion includes specific survey numbers and areas, facilitating the development and operation of the sector-specific SEZ in the designated region.
